The Tamil Nadu State government has launched the Tamil Nadu Mudhalvar Marundhagam Scheme 2025. To provide medicines to the citizens of Tamil Nadu State at a lower rate the chief minister of Tamil Nadu State Mr. MK Stalin has announced the launch of the Tamil Nadu Mudhalvar Marundhagam Scheme 2025. Under this scheme, the Tamil Nadu State Government will open pharmacies that will be owned by the state government to provide medicines to the citizens at a lower rate in the market. The state authorities have started the setting up of the pharmacies under the scheme and till now a total of 1000 pharmacies have been opened by the state government.
About Mudhalvar Marundhagam Scheme 2025
The scheme was first introduced by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu State Mr MK Stalin during his speech on Independence Day. Now the scheme has been finally launched by the state government on 24th February 2025. Under this scheme, the Tamil Nadu state government claims that it will reduce your pharmacy bill by 75%. Under the first phase the Tamil Nadu state government has opened a total of 1000 pharmacies and the Chief Minister will inaugurate the pharmacy located at Pondy Bazaar in Thyagaraya Nagar, Chennai. According to the information a total of 762 types of medicines are available at the pharmacies.

Objective of Mudhalvar Marundhagam
The main objective of launching the scheme is to allow financially weak citizens to purchase medicines at a lower rate. At the pharmacies, the authorities will sell both generic and branded medicines, especially for medical conditions like diabetes and hypertension (for which people regularly need medicine), at a reduced cost. Apart from providing medicine at a reduced price, this scheme will also create employment opportunities for the citizens of Tamil Nadu State who have completed B. Pharma or D. Pharma.
