The Tamil Nadu State Government launched the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme. All the permanent female residents of Tamil Nadu State will receive financial assistance under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme. By providing financial assistance to all the financially unstable female citizens of Tamil Nadu state the scheme will uplift the standard of living of all the selected applicants. The female citizens did not have to depend on anyone for their day-to-day expenses with the help of the scheme. Reopening of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai
The Tamil Nadu state government has announced the Reopening of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai. According to the information, the Tamil Nadu state government will start receiving the fresh applications under the scheme from 29th May 2025. This move will allow the ineligible women or the female citizens who are unable to apply during the initial phase to apply for the scheme now and avail the benefits. All the female citizens of Tamil Nadu State who will get selected under the scheme will receive financial assistance of INR 1000. A total of 1.14 female citizens of Tamil Nadu state are currently receiving the benefits, and 1.12 crore female citizens of the state are considered ineligible.
Objective of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme
The main objective of launching the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the financially unstable female citizens of Tamil Nadu state. The financial assistance of INR 1000 will be given to the selected applicants under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to the selected applicant’s bank account. All the selected female citizens of Tamil Nadu State can use financial education, self-employment, or business, which is a positive step. Eligibility Criteria
- The female citizen’s family annual income must not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.
- The female citizens must own less than 5 acres of irrigated land or less than 10 acres of unirrigated land.
- The female citizen’s family must be using less than 3600 units of electricity per year for domestic use.
Ineligibility Criteria
If any of the family members of the applicant applying for the benefit of the Kalaignar Mahila Rani Scheme are family members belonging to any of the following categories, the applicant from that family will not be eligible to receive the Mahila Rani Scheme.

- State and Union Government employees/employees of public sector undertakings/employees of banks, boards, local government bodies, employees of cooperative societies, and their pensioners.

Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme Apply Online
STEP 1: All the applicants who clear the eligibility criteria must visit the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai website

STEP 2: Once the applicant reaches the homepage of the official website the applicant must click on the option apply online.

STEP 3: A new page will appear on your desktop screen the applicant must enter all the details that are asked on the application form.
STEP 4: After entering all the details on the application form the applicant must quickly review it and click on the option submit to complete their process.
Offline Process
STEP 1: All female citizens of Tamil Nadu State who have applied for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme can now visit the nearest centre in their taluk to apply offline.
STEP 2: Once the female citizens reach the Taluk, they must take the application form from the representative and start filling.
STEP 3: The female citizens must start filling the application form by entering their name, Aadhaar number, family card number, marital status, telephone number, current residential address, own house, rented house, district, electricity connection number, gas book bill, bank name, branch name, and bank account number.
STEP 4: The female citizens must take a printout of the application form and attach the printout with Aadhaar card copy, ration card copy, bank passbook copy, electricity connection receipt, gas book receipt (if required).
STEP 5: Now, after filling the application form, the female citizens must submit it back to the representative to complete their process.
Terms and Conditions
All those whose names appear on the family card will be considered as one family.
- Only the head of the family of each eligible family can apply for the benefits of the scheme.
- Female citizens who are mentioned as the head of the family in the family card will be considered.
- Incase the head of the family is a male then the wife of the head of the family will be considered
- If the name of the wife of the male head of the family is not mentioned on the family card for any reason, one of the other women in the family will be considered the head of the family. If there is more than one female in a family who has completed 21 years of age, the family members can choose one person to apply for the benefit under this scheme.
- If the head of the family is an unmarried single woman, widow, or transgender, then they will also be considered.
