The central government of India has launched the NAKSHA Scheme 2025. To conduct a land record survey and develop a new and modern land management system in India the central government of India introduced the National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA). The NAKSHA Scheme 2025 was announced by the Union Rural Development Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Madhya Pradesh State government will be the first state of India to implement the NAKSHA Scheme 2025. The scheme was launched by the government of India under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DILRMP).

What is the NAKSHA Scheme 2025?

The Rural Development Minister of India launched the Naksha Scheme 2025 on 18th February 2025. By conducting the survey the Government of India will modernize the land records and provide transparency in property ownership and transaction. The Pilot project of the Naksha scheme will start in Madhya Pradesh covering a total of 152 cities including 10 towns in 9 districts. The survey under the scheme will be conducted in those cities that have an area < 35 sq km and a population < 2 lakhs. There is a great need for modernization in land records and infrastructure in India because many cities have outdated land records resulting in efficiency in governance.
