The chief minister of West Bengal State Mrs Mamta Banerjee has announced the launch of the Banglar Bari Toll Free Number via Twitter also known as X. According to the West Bengal State Government the toll-free number will provide solutions to various problems faced by the citizens promptly and effectively. Under the Banglar Bari Awas Yojana, the West Bengal State Government will provide financial assistance to the homeless citizens of West Bengal State for the construction of pucca houses. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will receive financial assistance of INR 1.2 lakh from the West Bengal State Government.

Objective of Banglar Bari Toll Free No
The main objective of launching the Banglar Bari Toll-Free No is to help the citizens who are facing problems while applying for the scheme. The toll-free number will solve all the problems of the beneficiaries while making sure that they do not waste their time by visiting government offices. Under the scheme, the West Bengal State government has set up a total budget of INRย 13,800 crore. Under the initial phase of the scheme, the West Bengal State Government will target a total of 1.5 Lakh families of West Bengal State who do not have a permanent house.

Eligibility Criteria
- The citizens must be a resident of West Bengal.
- The citizens must belong to an economically weaker section, based on income criteria set by the state.
- The citizens must not own a permanent (pucca) house in their name.
- The annual income of the citizens should be less than Rs. 1 lakh.
Financial Benefits
- The total financial assistance of INR 1.2 lakh or 1.3 lakh in remote areas will be given for house construction.
- The first installment of INR 60,000 will be given to the beneficiaries during the start of construction.
- The second installment of INR 50,000 will be given during the construction is going on.
- The remaining balance will be paid when the construction of the house is complete.
