The central government of India has released new updates under the PMAY 2.0 Urban. After the first meeting of the CSMC, the government of India approved the sanctioning of 3.5 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2.0 urban. Under this initiative, the central government of India will provide housing facilities to the citizens of India who are currently homeless and are not financially stable to ultimately build their home themself. Construction of Over 3.5L Houses Sanctioned
The announcement of the construction of over 3.5L houses sanctioned was made by Mr. Shri Srinivas Katikithala the Secretary of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The announcement came after the conclusion of the Central Sanction and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) meeting on 20th March 2025. Precisely a total of 3,52,915 houses will be given to the beneficiaries under this new initiative on Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) basis. Beneficiaries from the 10 selected States will receive the benefits of the new houses sanctioned under the PMAY 2.0.
About PMAY Urban 2.0
The Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana urban 2.0 is the extension of the PMAY, providing housing facilities to those who are unable to avail during the first run. While announcing the vision of PMAY Urban 2.0 which is โHousing for Allโ the Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi also announced that the scheme will provide housing facilities to 1 crore citizens across the country. The scheme is being implemented via 4 verticals including Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH), and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS). The central assistance of INR 2.5 lakh will be given to the selected beneficiaries belonging to EWS/LIG/MIG segments, having no pucca house anywhere in the country.
Objective of PMAY Uraban 2.0
The main objective of launching the PMAY Urban 2.0 is to address the housing needs of the homeless citizens of India who are yet to avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The PMAY is one of the most glorious and successful schemes launched by the central government of India since its formation. This is a significant step for the central government of India toward completely eliminating homelessness in the country and making housing accessible for everyone. Since the launch, the central government of India has sanctioned a total of 118.64 lakh houses across the country while about 92 lakh houses have already been constructed and delivered to beneficiaries.

Uttar Pradesh Provide Additional Subsidy
- In addition to the state share under PMAY 2.0 Urban the Uttar Pradesh State government is also providing, INR 30,000 to each senior citizen above the age of 70 years and INR 20,000 to the unmarried citizens who are above the age of 40 years.

- The schemes covered under the PMAY 2.0 urban include Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP). The beneficiaries will receive their houses from the government based on these two schemes.

- 80,850 houses for SC beneficiaries,
- 15,928 for ST
- 2,12,603 for the OBC category

- The beneficiaries will you selected on the basis of their clearance of eligibility criteria.
- The beneficiaries must not have any pakka house anywhere in the country to receive the financial benefits.
- The beneficiaries must be financially unfit to construct their house themselves without any financial help.
- The female beneficiaries will receive preference during the selection process of the citizens.
