The Jammu Kashmir government has launched the State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS) 2025. Under this scheme, the J&K government will provide financial assistance to financially unstable female citizens to allow them to get married easily without any financial burden. The J&K State Marriage Assistance Scheme is a great initiative by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to allow female citizens to get married easily without any financial difficulties. Previously, the J&K government was providing one-time financial assistance of INR 50,000; however, recently the authorities have reconsidered and enhanced the amount to INR 75,000. This one-time grant will allow the female citizens to cover out the expenses of the marriage without any difficulty. Objective of the State Marriage Assistance Scheme
The main objective of launching the State Marriage Assistance Scheme is to uplift the social status of dose female citizens who have reached the marriageable age. This scheme will make marriage easy and affordable for all the financially weak citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. All the female citizens who hold Priority Household (PHH) ration cards will receive financial assistance of INR 50000 for their marriage. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries through the DBT process. The scheme will be implemented after 1st April 2025.

- The female citizens must be at least 8th pass, with school dropouts following specific guidelines until 2025, after which the 8th-class certificate will be mandatory.

Application Form
- STEP 1: The female citizen must apply to the concerned District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) at least one month before her marriage, submitting all required documents.
- STEP 2: The DSWO will verify the details of the female citizen, including her marital status and age.
- STEP 3: The DSWO must ensure the female citizen has not previously availed financial benefits under any other UT/Centrally Sponsored Scheme, particularly the Ladli Beti Scheme.
- STEP 4: The DSWO will submit the case to the Deputy Commissioner (DC), including all necessary documents and recommendations.
- STEP 5: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) will verify the eligibility of the female citizen and approve the financial assistance if all requirements are met.
