The Karnataka state government has launched the Karnataka Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS) 2025. To stabilize the income of mango farmers of Karnataka state, the Karnataka state government has approved the launch of the Karnataka Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS) 2025. With the help of this initiative, the Karnataka state government will receive compensation from the state government for the loss incurred by selling mangoes at a lower price. The scheme was introduced by the Karnataka state government on 24th June 2025. This scheme will help the farmers to make a profit by selling their mangos.

Launched by the Karnataka state government on 24th June 2025, the Karnataka Price Deficiency Payment Scheme aims to compensate the farmers who have incurred a loss by selling mangoes. According to the information, the Karnataka state government has set up a total budget of INR 101 crore for the implementation of the scheme. This scheme is very helpful for the farmers of Karnataka state because Karnataka state grows almost 8 to 10 lakh metric tonnes from 1.39 lakh hectares across districts such as Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur.

Objective of Karnataka Price Deficiency Payment Scheme

The Karnataka Price Deficiency Payment Scheme will uplift the social status and standard of living of the mango farmers in Karnataka state. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare approved the procurement of 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes under PDPS, fixing the Market Intervention Price (MIP) at Rs 1,616 per quintal. Compensation will be capped at 25 per cent of the MIP in case of price shortfall. The farmers must note that mangoes traded through notified Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMC) Mandis will be eligible for the scheme, which will be in effect for one month from the date of the first recorded transaction.
