To encourages inter-caste marriages in Gujarat state the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment Of Gujarat state has launched the Dr Savitaben Ambedkar Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme. Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided to the citizens who will undergo intercast marriages. This scheme is a significant step of the Gujarat state government towards caste equality and eliminating discrimination faced by the citizens for belonging to the scheduled caste category. About Savitaben Ambedkar Marriage Scheme
The scheme has been implemented by the Gujarat state government to address the discrimination faced by the scheduled caste citizens in the state. All the citizens of Gujarat state who are Scheduled Castes of Hinduism getting married to individuals who belong to castes other than Scheduled Castes of Hinduism are eligible to receive financial assistance under the scheme. The financial assistance of INR 2.5 lakh will be given to the selected citizens who are undergoing inter-caste marriages. 50% of the financial assistance will be given by the central government of India and the rest of the amount will be contributed by the state government.

Eligibility Criteria
- The couple must be up permanent resident of Gujarat state.
- One of the bride or groom must belong to the schedule caste category and the other not.
- The marriage must be registered in the Registrar’s Office and the application for financial assistance must be submitted within two years.
- The parents of the bride and groom must be a permanent resident of Gujarat state for more than 5 years.
